Abstract

The optical sectioning microscope utilizes white light illumination for the visualization of individual cells that compose the organ of Corti. With the laser heterodyne interferometer we can measure the vibration, but we cannot identify the site of measurement within the organ of Corti. Combination of these two instruments allows placement of the measuring beam of the interferometer at a selected spot and depth in the cochlea, and makes it possible to identify the structure where the vibrations are measured
