Abstract

Bias can impact prescribing. Nurse practitioner students can benefit from enhanced bias content in advanced pharmacology courses. A presurvey–postsurvey examined student improvement in 5 key areas over a semester of enhanced bias content. The average assessment score significantly improved 6% from preintervention (mean, 60.89; SD, 9.5) to postintervention (mean, 66.73; SD, 13.70; t43 = 2.52, P = .008, d = 0.38). Bias persisted in identifying incorrect statements specific to depressive disorders during pregnancy. Treatment for depressive disorders during pregnancy is a knowledge gap for a cohort of novice nurse practitioner prescribers.
