Abstract

Excavations at the Ayanis Fortress, located on the east coast of the Van Lake, have been providing Urartian written documents since 1989. Short inscriptions on bullae found there belong to the reign of Rusa son of the last Urartian king Argišti and contain important information about the social, economic and political life of this period. This article discusses the inscriptions of three bullae which were found in 2014 during the Ayanis excavations. On the bullae occur three male names and the profession LÚLA.GAB.LIŠ (cupbearer), previously not mentioned in the Urartian inscriptions.
