Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of tiotropium bromide in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD) patients at stable stage .Methods 80 COPD patients at stable stage were randomly divid-ed into the observation group and the control group ,40 cases in each group .The control group was given salmeterol/fluticasone propionate ,the observation group was given tiotropium bromide based on the control group .The clinical effects were compared between two groups .Results Before treatment ,the dyspnea score ,lung function index FEV 1 , FEV1/FVC and life quality score between the two groups had no statistically significant differences (t=0.34,0.85, 0.93,0.73,all P〈0.05).After treatment, the dyspnea score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group ,and the lung function parameters of FEV 1 ,FEV1/FVC and life quality score in observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (t=1.98,13.75,9.51,5.87,all P〈0.05).No serious adverse reaction occurred in both two groups .Conclusion Tiotropium bromide in the treatment of COPD patients at stable stage can obviously improve the lung function ,relieve dyspnea and improve exercise tolerance .
