Abstract

Influence of pH of the medium on the crystal phases formation in BaTiO3 nanoparticles during their peroxide synthesis has been investigated. Nanoparticles in the ferroelectric tetragonal phase are formed at pH 9 when annealed at temperatures above 900 °C. Decreasing pH value to 8 leads to formation of nanoparticles in paraelectric cubic phase, while increasing the annealing temperature to 1100 °C does not lead to formation of other crystalline phases. Increasing pH value to 10 results in the formation of Ba2TiO4 and BaTi4O9 in addition to BaTiO3.
