The control group received graphic type health education, while the experimental group received graphic type health education combined with empowerment theory. The phonetic function and swallowing function were collected and compared before and after intervention between two groups. Results Before the intervention, there was no statistical significance in the difference of patients' phonetic function between the two groups (P>0.05) . However, after the intervention, the phonetic function improved than before, and it in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group (P 0.05) . After the intervention, swallowing function of the two groups were higher than those before intervention, and the experimental group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05) .
