Abstract

Quantitative measurement of the marine economic industrialization is beneficial to accelerate the sustainable marine economic development. This analysis constructs the Marine Economic Industrialization Index (MEIPI) and quantitatively analyzes the industrialization process of Chinese marine economy from five aspects: marine economic level, marine industrial structure, marine manufacturing structure, marine spatial structure, and marine employment structure. Next, this research further studies the regional differences of various aspects of marine economic industrialization. The conclusions are as follows: (1) Except for Liaoning, Hebei, Guangxi, and Hainan, other regions have entered the stage of marine economic industrialization in 2018. Sh an ghai and Tianjin took the lead to enter the late stage and middle stage of marine economic industrialization, respectively. (2) Obvious spatial heterogeneous of marine economic industrialization existed in 11 coastal regions from 2006 to 2018, including three types of steady progress, linear rise, and zigzag advancing. (3) Five indicators of marine economic industrialization were heterogeneous. Marine economic level of all regions performed the best, marine spatial structure and marine employment structure performed relatively smoothly, while marine industrial structure and marine manufacturing structure performed the worst. To promote the industrialization progress in China, it is necessary to take the regional advantages and formulate regional unique development models of marine economy.
