Abstract

This article discussed optical communication channels, their characteristics, methods to improve reliability. In the introduction describes the general problem of traditional radio communication channels — the lack of free frequencies, noise, easy hacking. Optical communication channels as a solution to these problems are described. The next chapter ana- lyzes the reliability of communications — describing natural obstacles (fog, smoke, signal attenuation, etc.) and man-made ones (Jamming and MitM attacks). Then methods of increasing reliability are considered — duplication of communication channels, signal modulation, frequency multiplexing, use of encryption, masking of useful signal in noise, quantum protection of communication channel, protection against Jamming and MitM attacks.
