Abstract

Flexible power point tracking (FPPT) has been presented in the past years to control the output power of photovoltaic (PV) modules to a specific value, which makes PV generation much more friendly to the system. However, the tracking accuracy of existing FPPT algorithms is low during fast-changing irradiance. The improved FPPT algorithm, which consists of modified maximum power point tracking strategy and optimized constant power generation method, is proposed. Compared with existing FPPT algorithms, the tracking accuracy of the proposed algorithm for PV systems under various working conditions is improved while the energy difference is decreased. Followed by theoretical analysis, the simulation and experimental results validate the claimed advantages of the proposed solution.
