Abstract

We begin with a functorial interpretation of the following problem of representation theory for finite groups: Given a subgroupH of a groupG, which representations ofG are induced by a representation ofH? The problem can be formulated in the language of enriched categories and functors, and we give a general solution in that context. Then we present three examples which illustrate how the general theory can be applied.
