Abstract
An implementation technique is presented which permits display definitions to be generated by fortran calls. The display definitions generated are used to refresh a non-storage display. The concept of ‘output processing’ of display definitions has been extended to include computation on parameters addressed by the display definitions. This paper will primarily cover the implementation of ‘sub-picture’-call elements in these display definitions as opposed to line and text elements. These elements of a display definition specify transformed instances of other display definitions as single elements. The invoked definitions may themselves contain such sub-picture-call elements thus permitting a nested structure of display descriptions.
