Abstract

Reading is a very important aspect of Indonesian language skills. The ability of students after reading will obtain information and understand the meaning contained in the reading text is called reading comprehension skills. Not all students are able to read and understand the contents of the text they have read. One way of handling this problem is implementing the KWL strategy (Know, Want and learned). Through this strategy, students are expected to be active in the learning process. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive study which had the aim of explaining the process, results and difficulties experienced by students in implementing the KWL strategy.Know, Want, and Learned). In this study using data collection techniques in the form of interviews and documentation. In addition, researchers used data analysis in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. And the results of this study will show differences in student activity from the first meeting to the second meeting. Furthermore, it was found that 10 out of 12 students could implement fairly good reading comprehension skills, and 2 out of 12 students had poor reading comprehension skills. Students experience difficulties in making conclusions and filling in KWL worksheets. This is the conclusion of this research.
