Abstract

Objective To explore the design and effect of flipped classroom in practical nursing English course. Methods Flipped classroom teaching model was used in practical nursing English course to nursing students.Later a questionnaire was applied to obtain their perceptions and evaluations of this teaching model. Results 98.3% of the students agree or strongly agree that they can study by themselves before class, 81.7% of the students think flip class helps to cultivate and improve their self-directed learning ability. 86.7% of the students consider they can listen to team member seriously, 85.0% of the students are willing to adopt the opinions of others. 83.3% of the students believe their abilities of communication are enhanced, 86.7% of the students hold the opinions that they learn how to cooperate with others. In spite of this advantage, 41.7% of the students think flip class increase their burden. Conclusions Flipped classroom teaching model can help students to grasp what they learned, can cultivate students’ ability of self-directed learning and cooperative learning, either. In order to achieve better effect, teachers can provide short and interactive learning resources and give more guidance. Key words: Flipped classroom; Nursing; English teaching; Implement
