Abstract

Some characters of agriculture in Andalusia : unchanged socio- economic structures and changing agricultural production. The author mentions the historical origins and background of the present agrarian structures of Andalusia and their main features : large estates and large agricultural units, which remain unchanged since the 19th century. He stresses the momentous expansion of rural unemployment. And he describes later on the evolution of agriculture itself for twenty-five years : the production has changed, but its conversion and modernization went without any alteration of the land ownership structures when there appeared a large differentiation of the productive systems. He concludes that though most ancient characters of the local agriculture were preserved, the present situation should be defined by the emergence of neo latifundia.
