Abstract

The purpose of the qualitative study presented in this article, was to advance the understanding of the social imaginary of gender in intersectionality sex/ ethnicity/ class with the students of teacher education programs at the University of Antioquia who participated as a case study through techniques: survey and interview toreveal how and where have been configured these imaginaries, finding in them a strong racial and patriarchal load, which is based on traditional stereotypes determinants of how the students understand and assume otherness and difference. In this sense, the challenge resides in transforming those imaginaries from the teacher training degree programs, which will be evidenced in the impact will have the future teachers in educational settings where they perform their work, seeking thereby the recognition of the difference in the perspective ofintercultural education.
