Abstract

The article examines the relationship between the theme and its plastic realization in rural landscape painting art of Sverdlovsk/Yekaterinburg. At the height of the landscape genre owing to the active involvement of the professional artistic community in it, the works of outstanding masters acquired independence and freedom of expression. Analysis of compositions and imagery in works of similar motif showed a wide coverage of the surrounding reality in the depiction of villages as reflected in the choice of themes and active search for means of artistic expression.
