Abstract

AbstractThe time differential perturbed angular correlation technique was used to measure the hyperfine magnetic field acting on 41K nuclei recoil implanted in nickel by the 41K(p, p′) 41K reaction. From the modulation of the time spectrum of the gamma transition from the 7/2− statc at 1293 kcV, H (K Ni) = (− 19.9 ± 1.2) kG is found. From the unperturbed p2 − 1293 keV gamma ray angular correlation, studied with a silver backing for the 41KBr target, values A2 = 0.246 ± 0.064 and A4 = −0.042 ± 0.103 of the angular correlation coefficients were obtained. The amplitude of modulation of the time spectrum amounts to about 60% of that derived from the unperturbed angular correlation coefficients.
