Abstract
1. The catalytic hydrogenation of bis(ethylcinnamate)chromium and bis(ethylhydrocinnamate)chromium has been carried out in the presence of homogeneous catalysts, i. e., (Ph3P)3RhCl and a Pd-containing macromolecular catalyst. 2. Hydrogenation in the presence of heterogeneous catalysts (PtO2, Pd/Al2O3, skeletal nickel) is accompanied by a considerable degree of breakdown of the bisarene-chromium system.
