Abstract

Abstract: Hydrogen is considered an alternative fuel for automobiles due to its ability to power fuel cells in zero-emission vehicles (vehicles with no emissions of air pollutants), the possibility of domestic production, and the potential for high fuel cell efficiency all contribute to the interest in hydrogen as an alternative transportation fuel. This paper lays out the current scenario of R&D activity in India and look at the various governmental policies that facilitate this development across several program areas. The paper also discusses the current scenario of projects implemented by both the private and the public sector on large scale green hydrogen production and development and deployment of hydrogen vehicles.
