Abstract
In order to analyze the hydrodynamic performance and flow field characteristics of L-type podded propulsor under ice blockage condition, based on the RANS method, the unsteady hydrodynamic performance of L-type podded propulsor at different distances between propeller and ice was numerically calculated by using the overlapping grid technology.Research results show that with the decrease of the distance between propeller and ice, thrust and torque of propeller and pod unit increase gradually, and rapid increase when the distance is near, but the added value is unstable. With the decrease of the distance between propeller and ice, blade pressure difference increases gradually in blocking region, while the other blade pressure differences are almost the same, and the pressure differences of the strut and pod increase. The axial inflow velocity in the blocking region between the propeller and ice decreases first, then increases, and then decreases, and the axial inflow velocity is almost constant in the non-blocking zone. The high velocity area of the propeller trailing vortex increases gradually towards the propeller rotation direction.
