Abstract
Abstract A range of studies of offshore oil and mining industries have shown human factors to be critical to occupational health and safety. This paper reviews some Canadian, European and Australian research and describes management responses in such areas as hiring and orientation, work scheduling, communications, counselling, the work culture and family-sensitive personnel policies.
