Abstract

ABSTRACT A survey of offshore first line supervisors on the UKCS installations identified the significance of their role in terms of performance, job satisfaction and safety. Many respondents felt that the offshore environment changed supervisory style and work discipline, and some felt that the general work regime was affected. More than half of the respondents felt that the combination of working, socialising and living with their shift could influence supervisory decisions.
