Abstract

Study skills are an important ability to achieve success in academic achievement. Self-efficacy is also important which will show the level of individual confidence in completing tasks or achieving desired goals. This research is intended to describe the level of skill in writing descriptive essays and the level of student self-efficacy and to see the correlation between these variables. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a correlational type. The research respondents were 63 students at SMP Negeri 2 Kabawetan. Data collection uses writing skills and self-efficacy instruments. Data analysis uses quantitative descriptive and correlation analysis. Data processing was carried out using Excel and SPSS applications. From the research results, it was found that most of the students who were research respondents had descriptive essay writing skills in the medium category. Most of the students in this study also had moderate self-efficacy. In this research, it was also found that self-efficacy had a significant positive correlation with descriptive essay writing skills
