Abstract

The Ring of Fire that traverses Indonesia makes it a region vulnerable to earthquakes. Not only are Indonesia’s characteristic earthquakes a concern, but being an archipelagic nation also renders it susceptible to tsunamis. This article explores how Science Learning can provide a deeper understanding of natural disasters. Additionally, the research method employed—qualitative descriptive approach—is discussed, along with an analysis of the student textbook for Grade 1, Theme 8, titled “Natural Disasters.” The challenges faced by teachers in explaining this material are also addressed, including how they can create a dynamic learning environment, provide additional learning resources, and emphasize the importance of understanding natural disasters.
