Abstract

This decrease in body balance makes elderly people vulnerable to experiencing a decrease in quality of life, inability or difficulty in carrying out daily life activities. . Joint pain is a disturbing clinical manifestation in the joint area, resulting in disruption of the sufferer's bodily functions. Joint pain can cause body balance disorders in the elderly. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between joint pain and body balance in the elderly at UPT. Tresna Werdha Services (PSTW) Jember. The design of this research is correlation with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study consisted of 109 respondents. The sample in this study amounted to 86 respondents. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling using purposive sampling. The instrument in this research is a questionnaire. From the research it was found that joint pain (43%), no pain (43%), good body balance (25.6%), disturbed body balance (74.4%). The results of the Spearman's Rho statistical test with (ɑ = 0.05) obtained a p value = -0.231, which shows that there is a significant relationship between joint pain and body balance in the elderly at UPT.
