Abstract

In accordance with international recommendations in patients with increased cardiovascular risk there should be carried out a systematic assessment of cardiovascular risk. Basing on data from the clinical studies the author shows the necessity of taking into account not only the main risk factors but also subclinical markers of cardiovascular disease, including indicators of the central arterial pressure (CAP). It shows the predictive value of CAP regarding the impact on prognosis of patients with hypertension. Thus, they should also take into account the effect of different antihypertensive drugs on major cardiac performance, including CAP in the selection of therapy for each individual patient.
