Abstract

The phenomenon of street children in Asian cities is causing increasing concern. The causes of this phenomenon are multiple and vary among different countries. These factors include uneven economic development, poverty, inadequate parenting, and school failure, all of which this article discusses. Food, shelter, and safety are street children’s everyday problems. They also face the risk of abuse and discrimination by others. However, street children also show their resilience in their struggle for survival. Different countries offer different services for them. There is no easy solution to the problem. It is likely that services in the near future will mainly focus on the protection of these children.
