Abstract

This article deals with commonly used descriptive statistics in housing, the error to which these are subject and the effect on comparability of differences in definitions. Specific statistics are discussed including those for market concepts such as prices, rents, and interest rates, outcome measures such as the homeownership rate, and aspects of housing need. An array of international and national statistics sources are given.
