Abstract

This review of David G. Marwell, Mengele Unmasking the «Angel of Death» commends the author’s evidence-based approach. A strength is the complex history of forensic investigations of Mengele’s body by competing international teams. The role of twins and prisoner assistants in Auschwitz lacks attention and could have contributed significantly more to the biography.
