Abstract
Purpose: Viruses play an important role in causing respiratory infections in children worldwide. The burden of viruses in respiratory infections among children in Pakistan is unknown, largely due to absence of good quality diagnostic facilities. Rapid detection and identification of these pathogens, having potential to cause pandemics is important to restrict the burden of viral pathogens among children. Advanced molecular biology techniques offer great advantage as they are more sensitive and have faster identification of respiratory pathogens.
