Abstract
The main trends in the development of technology for the production of wire rod in world practice are outlined. Information is provided on the developments by equipment manufacturers to change the layout and composition of the equipment of the tail section of modern high-speed mills in order to obtain the ability to control the properties of wire rod of a wide grade and size range. Information is presented on the use and location of reducing and sizing units in the tail section during the construction of new mills for the production of wire rod and the modernization of existing mills at domestic metallurgical plants.
