Abstract

"Heartspotted" Leaf Beetle (Cryptocephalus cordiger) – Rediscovery of a leaf beetle species (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) considered extinct in Baden-Württemberg. The leaf beetle Cryptocephalus cordiger (L., 1758), which has been considered extinct in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, was rediscovered in the Swabian Jura after more than sixty years. Conservation measures to support species of calcareous grasslands were recently implemented in the area where it was recorded, which had entailed the removal of a substantial amount of woody vegetation. It is theorized that C.cordiger has profited from this.
