Abstract

The Hamiltonian structure of a class of gravity Lagrangians which are linear in the scalar curvature and quadratic in the torsion is studied by using Dirac’s general method for systems with constraints. It is found that the Lorentz gauge potentials can be eliminated from the theory by using constraint equations, without affecting the Dirac brackets of the remaining variables.
