Abstract
The present study was conducted among the Garos of Bajengdoba village and Tura town of West Garo Hills District, Meghalaya. Data for the present study were collected from 233 ever-married women of Bajengdoba Village and 252 from Tura town aged between 15 and 49 years. The finding of the present study reveals that women whose haemoglobin level is below 12g/dl have higher number of live-births than the ≥12g/dl. Maternal age, Maternal age at marriage, occupation and Body Mass Index are significantly associated with the haemoglobin level and among all Maternal age and Body Mass Index are positively associated with higher prevalence of anemia in the present populations.
