Abstract

Background: The life expectancy of people with mobility impairment has substantially increased over the years, however, there is little data regarding how women with mobility impairment cope with life stage changes, such as the period from premenopause to postmenopause. The experience of the Pink Point outpatient clinic of the Careggi University Hospital in Florence, dedicated to women with motor disabilities through an observational study of a group of 35 women who came to the service for climacteric symptoms and/or peri- and/or postmenopausal gynecological and breast cancer screening is reported. Pink Point is a dedicated obstetric-gynecological care service designed in 2015 by Careggi University Hospital as part of the Maternal Department and Spinal Unit and is part of the Tuscany Region's PASS Program for equity of access to care for people with disability-related special needs. The service is adjacent to the Diagnostic and Breast Radiology Service with a dedicated chair for complex disabling conditions.
