Abstract

This article has as its theme and object the war of the criminal factions of Maranhão in the second half of the decade 2011-2020, resulted in the consolidation of the power of organized factions operating in the State of Maranhão. Based on Benjamin, Agamben and Foucault, he reflects on the triad of violence-punishment-exception in state prison institutions. It analyzes the “soundtrack” of the videos clip produced by the criminal factions, aiming at categorizing the aesthetics of terror, promoting of the pedagogic of barbarism and the new ritualization of death. In addition, based on Williams and Thompson, the identity formation of a fraction of social class formed by young criminals from the periphery.
