Abstract
Organizing group presentations in class for students is a common teaching method used by many lecturers to assist students in absorbing knowledge in an active and exciting way, as well as to build important soft and professional skills. The purpose of this paper is to find out the current state of group presentations from the perspective of foreign language students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City. The authors conducted a quantitative study on 264 students from the five Faculties of Foreign Languages of the University, developed a questionnaire, and collected data to gauge students' perspectives. According to the research findings, organizing group presentations is a teaching method that is regularly and widely employed during school hours. Students regard group presentations as useful and beneficial activities that provide practical benefits by assisting them in effectively absorbing courses, forming a positive learning attitude, and developing various soft and professional skills. Nevertheless, group presentations still have some shortcomings for students, including their low lesson receptivity level, much non-interest and deconcentration in group presentations.
