Abstract

The existence of characteristic mean amplitudes of vibration and Coriolis coupling constants is shown. If the group frequency is characteristic both quantities are shown to depend mainly on the atomic masses. The Coriolis constants ζ 1( E × E) for tetrahedral ZXY 3 molecules (= ν as XY 3) are shown to follow the same equation as ζ 1( F 2 × F 2) for tetrahedral XY 4 molecules (= ν as XY 4).
