Abstract

A famous Italian scholar Giovanni Evangelista Torricelli is most famous for his physical discoveries. Nevertheless, nowadays it is less known that he dealt with mathematics as well. This article is devoted to his several mathematics results. After a short historical introduction, the author gives the construction of Torricelli’s point in a triangle; further he describes an interesting geometrical figure, Torricelli’s trumpet, and its analogy, created by rotation of Cissoid of Diocles.
