Abstract

This article deals with the levels of access and knowledge that members of the Local Productive Arrangements (LPAs) of Cabo Frio – RJ and Nova Friburgo – RJ (cities in the state of Rio de Janeiro, southeast of Brazil) have in relation to the funding forms offered by Banco do Brasil bank. This is an exploratory research, with qualitative stamp developed based on bibliographical, documental and field researches. The results showed that there is still too much to improve in the communication between the BB and the companies surveyed when it comes to funding access. The survey results indicate that, direct or indirectly, the knowledge and access to finance levels are related to the following factors: a) the incipient process of social management in LPAs b) the environment of internal predatory competition c) competition based in lowering prices, which impacts the quality and the increasing informality d) the culture of isolationism and managerial financial practices and non-professionalized, finally, e) the BB characteristics themselves, as the largest and most capillary bank member of the concentrated and centralized in the Brazilian financial system, has a national presence impacting its ability to perform, at the local level, a treatment aimed at companies included in LPAs.
