Abstract
This article brings an analysis on the spatial distribution of tourism in Africa, from a brief historical contextualization. It also does a critical reading of the insertion of this continent in international tourist routes. To do so, it makes a proposal for the regionalization of Africa due to its use and ownership by tourist activity. Besides, however, the action of hegemonic agents of the production of spaces for tourism, it considers, too, the existence of counter-hegemonic rationalities related to tourism on the continent, expressed in the form of experiences of community-based tourism.
