Abstract
ABSTRACTA surface packed‐bed discharge reactor was designed to enhance the generation of reactive species in water. The pellets packed between discharge electrodes can intensify the electric discharge in water and produce reactive species of higher concentrations, and zirconia pellets had the highest energy efficiency for generating reactive species. Moreover, the degradation of sulfamethoxazole also demonstrated better performance of surface packed‐bed discharge than surface discharge on the generation of discharge plasma. At an applied voltage of 22 kV, the sulfamethoxazole degradation efficiency and energy efficiency of surface packed‐bed discharge were 2.1 and 1.6 times that of surface discharge.
