Abstract
How will structure evolve in the future? This paper considers evolutionary pressures for change – with history as its guide. The author's ideas, together with the scenarios of Buckminster Fuller, form a basis to discuss structure in futuristic cities, third world countries and outer space. The paper concludes with the suggestion that the more fundamental laws of physics will play a dominant role in the evolution of super-efficient structural systems of the future.
