Research Article| April 01 2017 Funding “Opera for the 80s and Beyond”: The Role of Impresarios in Creating a New American Repertoire Sasha Metcalf Sasha Metcalf Sasha Metcalf is a visiting assistant professor of musicology at Vanderbilt University, where she teaches courses on Western art music, popular music, and reception history. Her research examines the interplay between administrators, artists, and performing arts institutions in late twentieth-century American opera. She has presented at conferences of the American Musicological Society and Society for American Music, and she currently serves as newsletter editor of the Society for Minimalist Music. She completed her PhD in musicology at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
