Abstract

The aim of the study: was to develop additional microscopic diagnostic criteria for asphyxiating type of drowning based on the study of quantitative morphology of laryngeal mucosal apudocytes (SOG) in rats. Materials and methods of research: the work was performed on 50 nonlinear male laboratory rats using histological, histochemical, immunohistochemical, morphometric, statistical methods. The results of the study: the data obtained showed that animals with different weights have age-related features of the response of apudocytes of COG in drowning conditions. Conclusions: 1. In young animals of the experimental group in conditions of acute anoxia, significant hyperplasia of argyrophilic and morphofunctional activity of serotonin-containing apudocytes of COG is revealed in relation to similar indicators of animals of the comparison group. These changes contribute to the development of laryngospasm, which prevents the penetration of water into the airways and lungs in asphyxiated type of drowning. 2. In sexually mature animals of the comparison group in conditions of acute anoxia, less pronounced quantitative reactions of argyrophilic and morphofunctional activity of serotonin-containing apudocytes in COG are noted. These changes are not accompanied by the development of laryngospasm, which contributes to the penetration of water into the airways and lungs with aspiration type of drowning. 3. The presence of the phenomenon of pronounced hyperplasia of argyrophilic and morphofunctional activity of serotonin-containing apudocytes of COG in conditions of acute anoxia in young animals can be used as an additional diagnostic criterion for the asphyxic type of drowning in experimental studies.
