Abstract

Black paint for solar collector panels has been formulated and prepared from phenoxy resin, various organic and inorganic pigment and solvents. It is shown that addition of pyrogenic silica (Aerosil 380) makes possible the use of this paint in the coil-coating application process. Thickness sensitive spectrally selective (TSSS) paint coating with as = 0.92 and eT = 0.38 was prepared and commercially used for solar collector production. FT-IR spectra of various paints and coatings have been recorded and the influence of the pyrogenic silica - resin binder interactions have been correlated with spectral selectivity of the corresponding TSSS paint coating.
