Abstract

This research deals with the mechanical behaviour and vibration analysis of short bamboo fibre based polymer composite beam structures. Bamboo fibre has been widely used for many applications due to its low cost, light weight, short growth cycle and high availability. Two different weight fractions (10 wt% and 15 wt%) of short bamboo fibres are considered during the fabrication of short bamboo fibres reinforced polyester composite beams (SBFRPCB). The mechanical properties like tensile strength, tensile modulus is measured. The vibration analysis using analytical method and finite element method are carried out to obtain natural frequencies and mode shapes of SBFRPCB structures.
