Abstract

The visit of Chancellor O. Scholz to China (without the participation of President E. Macron) allowed analysts and the world media to conclude that the Franco-German tandem is in a crisis. The authors set the goal of analysing the tandem problems at present and identifying a future model of cooperation. Contrary to wide-spread views, the authors believe that the deep essence of the crisis lies in difficulty for the tandem participants to correct and manage the asymmetry of relations and processes at national, European and international levels. The article defines the future model of cooperation between France and Germany as selective partnership.
