Abstract

Substrate Integrated Waveguide technology is most promising technology to develop millimeter microwave components. The selection of substrate is very important in millimeter microwave design. By selecting a good substrate to design any microwave components which gives good results. In this paper various substrates materials like RT duriod 5880, Rogers 4350, FR4 and Glass are considered to design a hybrid coupler at 60 GHz which is suitable for millimeter wave applications. The results are discussed with respect to reflection coefficient, VSWR, insertion loss, relative permittivity variation with frequency, surface current variation, loss tangent variation and losses. A good substrate gives good mechanical support at higher frequency operation. RT duriod 5880 substrate is most suitable for millimeter wave applications like RADAR and 5G. All the design parameter values meeting required standards.
