Abstract

In this article, the design of a novel structure of a directional coupler based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology has been carried out. We have used the HFSS simulator to design both the structure of the microstrip transition taper and the structure of the proposed coupler operating in the X frequency band. The simulation results showed that the proposed directional coupler is characterized by good performances in terms of bandwidth (2.5 GHz), insertion losses (-3.52dB), coupling (-6.57dB) and isolation (-26dB). The proposed directional coupler is intended to play an important role in antenna networks, radar and optical communications systems. So, SIW technology provides an excellent platform for development of various microwave and millimeter wave applications.
